Aurora

Aurora Aksnes (born June 15 1995, at Stavanger) is the name of a Norwegian music producer and a singer. Her debut E.P. Running with the Wolves was released by the label Decca Records in May 2015 getting great reviews by music journalists and media. She has previously released two top-of-the-line covers Half the World Away by the group Oasis to promote a Christmas ad from John Lewis and Nature Boy by Nat King Cole. She gained some further recognition via a blog post from Katy Perry where Perry endorsed her track Runaway. It was her birthday celebration. Aurora Aksnes' first musical memory involves finding a small piano that was in her basement, and bewildered by the sound it made. Jan Oystein Aksnes, her parents, May Britt Aksnes, and Jan Oystein Aksnes, encouraged their daughter to pursue music more as a hobby as a career. In order to do so she started writing her own original compositions. Her inspirations include famous authors Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan in addition to her love for Bjork's style. In response to her mother's advice that people ought not to aim at achieving fame through the songs she writes, but rather realize the importance of themselves and their impact on society. When she was six she started playing the piano, and when she was nine was writing music. Her family didn't know until the age of 14. Aurora did not have a set goal. According to her, she just loves writing music. Music to her is the best method to experience anything.
